Crime Fighters will take a look at Calling All Cars, which was broadcast from Nov 29th, 1933 to Sept 8th, 1939. Calling All Cars was one of the earliest police shows on the air. It dramatized true crime stories and was introduced by officers of Los Angeles and other police departments. None of the cast was credited, with one exception. We will feature the episode, "Death In The Moonlight" from March 8th, 1938.

Rob hancik plays two exciting shows from Frontier Gentleman. Frontier Gentleman, J.B> Kendall played by John Danar ran in 1958. Unfortunately, this program came to us at a time when old time radio was waning.
Rob will play two parts of a four-part story. This program concerns the life of the famous madam gambler, Belle Siddens played by jean Bates. I believe that J.B. kendall fell in love with Belle.

Matt will play "The Inimitable Jeeves", this week's story is entitled "Honoria Glossop." The episode stars Richard Briars and Michael Hordern and was first broadcast on June 19, 1973. The question is how will Bertie get out of being engaged. Then we continue our exciting serial "Inspector West At Home," episode 3 from April 1, 1968 with "Fear In Flat 9."

Hearthstone of the Death Squad was a spinoff from The Molle Mystery Theater. It featured homicide cases investigated by Inspector Hearthstone. Starring Alfred Shirley, the series was produced by Frank and Anne Hummert. Tonight's show, "The Terrifying Letter Murder Case" is from January 10th, 1952. Then we shall hear an episode of The Adventures of Father Brown, which was broadcast on Sundays over Mutual from June 10, to July 29, 1945 and starred Karl Swenson. Tonight we will listen to the episode "The Three Tools of Death" from July 22, 1945.

This week we will begin with a short subject, continue a serial and enjoy a documentary during our weekly brunch. Matt starts us off with "Why Bother," a British satire from Radio 3 with Peter Cook playing Sir Arthur Streeb-Greebling discussing his take on life. It sounds simple but, as we've discovered with British humor, it's never as simple as it looks. We then continue with Inspector West At Home and episode four "A Call from the Whistler" from Radio 2 - April 4, 1968.

This year is an election year here in the U.S. and we have a woman running for president. Well, back in 1940 a woman ran for president as well, her name Gracie Allen. So join me as Gracie tells about the Surprise Party and her run for the White House.
As you may or may not know the following Monday is Presidents Day here in the U.S. When we celebrate the presidents of the past. For my second show I will present Life With Luigi. In this show Luigi discovers America the young Italian shows his love for our country and its presidents especially George Washington.

This week at brunch we have a bit of everything. Comedy, mystery, and a chance to
learn plus some satire. It all starts with Matt who debuts a new show "Dial M For
Pizza." This was a comedy series loaded with British comedy which premiered on Radio
4 Nov 17 of 1987. In the first episode we learn about Jack Thomas, Britain's stupidest
postman, try and figure out who the nut is on Bus 29, and meet the man no one wants
to talk to ... at parties. Then we'll go back to Inspector West at Home and episode
5 "Girl For a Hostage," from Radio 2 April 4 1968. Roger's been reinstated Lois Randall

Joy Jackson will play one of her favorite creations, the Sunset Squadron. We will be treated to the Director's Cut of this radio play, originally recorded in 2004. The program will start with the promo that KIXI radio built for the show, since it was broadcast a week after the performance.
The show has been modified with the addition of some characters, and new performances by a few others, along with enhanced sound effects and music. Afterwards, Joy will be willing to share behind the scenes experiences that made a difference in the writing of the play.

First we will listen to George S Decker tell us about the murder of his mother from
the 1953 series Confession. Then will pay a visit to the old west, yes you heard
correctly, the old west, and listen to Thomas Hyland tell us the story of The Death
of a Picture Hanger from the Crime Classics series. This show also is from 1953.

In May of 1929, a book was published that to this date is considered by some, the
greatest war epic of our time. It was written while the author spent some time during
his many adventures abroad at a relative’s home in Arkansas. The book is written
in five books and tells the story of Frederick Henry and Catherine Barkley and it
takes place during World War I on the Italian front. If you haven't figured it out
the book is "A Farewell to Arms," and its author is Ernest Hemingway. When I first
looked at tackling this classic I had many questions to consider. Which old time

“That was the shot ... that killed Harry Lyme," those immortal words began one of
the most unique old time radio shows. "The Lives Of Harry Lyme," had a short run
on the BBC under the title "The Adventures Of Harry Lyme," but it had a better run
in American syndication after it was produced by the firm Towers of London. So who
shot Harry Lyme? You'll have to be at Brunch Saturday to find out as Matt Cox and
Fred Bertelsen present "The Third Man," the original story of Rollo Martins an American
writer of pulp Western fiction who is called to Vienna in 1949 to help his old school

This time it's radio from A to Z. We'll lead off with "A Date With Judy" from radio's first golden age. This will be followed by "Zero
Hour" from radio's mini-revival in the 70's. So why not join us for an hour of comedy and intrigue?

Hello and welcome to Brunch 10 otherwise known as our "Easter Brunch." For Easter
we'll be first exploring "The Warden." The Warden is a book that was first written
in 1855 by Anthony Trollope. It's a story written while he was a postal clerk in
England trying to make extra money. It tells the story of a man in charge of a hospital
for the elderly. These were elder laborers and workers who when their work was done
could retire in to the care of the Anglican Church and know their worries would be
cared for. The story starts when the Church is investigated for fraud and mismanagement.

The first is from the program Grand Central Station and the title is Moon Blind, a nice romantic drama. The second show will have you tapping your
feet and singing along with my favorite cowboy Gene Autry. He will have a story for
you as well. The only date I can give you on this one is 1953 because it is an Arm
Forces Radio broadcast. So join me and sit back relax and listen, as we venture in
to another What Once Was Radio.

As we take our stroll down Memory Lane we'll do something a little
Different. For the sake of comparison We are going to listen to the premier
Episode of The Fat Man from January 21st 1946, from the ABC Radio Network
With J (Jack) Scott Smart as the Fat Man. Then we'll follow this with
Another premier episode of The Fat Man, this one is from September 9th,
1954, from another ABC, The Australian Broadcasting Corporation featuring
Lloyd Berrell as the Fat Man.

There is much excitement in the Radio Out of the Past community as word has been
received that special guest Chuck McKibben's will be joining the virtual audience
Thursday, April 17 during the weekly gathering of old time radio enthusiasts.
Chuck McKibben's 45-year career in show business has always been centered around
voiceover work...the first nine years as a radio personality, and then, while still
only in his mid-20's, as the studio manager and personal recording engineer for the
most fabled voice artist of all, Mel ("Bugs Bunny") Blanc. Chuck will recount for

On the sixteenth edition of Brunch With The Brits Matt starts us off with "I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again," otherwise known as Radio Prune. This was the pilot episode for The BBC Home service from 1964 and features the well known voice of John Kleese. It's really a jumping off point for Monty Python and the presentation of skits will remind some of Pythons' later albums. The Radio Prunes team were all Cambridge students together and were responsible for the occasional Cambridge Circus Spotlight Review heard on Home Service.

This week at Brunch a bowl full of serial?

The presentation concerns a decade-by-decade look at how radio advertising changed
during radio's golden age. It will focus on how the sponsors got their products mentioned
over the airwaves when network radio began in 1926 and how the radio commercials
were presented during the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's, and 1960.
In closing out the hour, there are also 3 4-minute commercials for New Evergreen
Spray (an insecticide) starring Chester the Cutworm and Millicent the Rose Beetle.

What do a comic book, a Roman detective, a seasoned Scotland Yard veteran, and an Italian Priest have in common?

This time on Radio Out Of The Past we're going to salute the arrival of spring which
has finally reached most of the country. Two things that spring brings are color
and bugs. Accordingly, we will have two crime-fighting shows with the names of colors
and bugs in their titles. If you can't guess the first show you are definitely not
paying attention. But can you figure the second offering?

Sherlock Holmes has had many incarnations both on radio and in movies. As early as
the late 1890's Americans had an idea of how he looked and sounded as there was already
an early edition of "The Hound Of The Baskervilles," presented as an early Broadway
stage play. Here at "Cruising The Classics," we too haven't forgotten Sherlock Holmes
and this Thursday we shall present a full hour of Holmesean drama. If you're thinking
it's two Rathbone episodes we threw together no it's not. But what is it?

The program opens with radio advertising from the listeners' viewpoint. Find out
what the listeners liked and disliked about radio commercials during the golden age.
Rounding out the hour is an unusual non-broadcast. Hosted by Edward R. Murrow, he
tries to persuade the people of Standard Oil of New Jersey in sponsoring the New
