Cotra hosted by Rick Spurgeon

our presenter for this week will be Rick Spurgeon. Here he is to tell you what he has in
store.

"Well, here goes my last kick at the COTRA cat for the summer...already. Of
course, we'll lead off with a Jory story from the mid-40s. He tackles the
lead role in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. a radio version of the romantic-comedy
movie. When you listen to Jory's speeches, see if you can imagine Jimmy
Sterart doing this part. Then stay awake for the Midnight Cab offering of
Family Portrait for some startling revelations about Christa.

Maureen Forrester, Father's Day, and a surprise on COTRA.

Hi, there, fans of Canadian old-time radio. Well, we lost a musical icon this week. Maureen Forrester died at age 79. From what I understand, she spent much of the last years of her life battling alcoholism and Alzheimer's disease. There was an excellent clip of a very young Maureen in the latest edition of CBC's archives newsletter, and if all goes well, one of our regulars will play it during the first hour of our chat.

Then, of course, tomorrow is Father's Day. All being well, another of our regulars will play a timely Hank Snow song.
